Custom Data Fields are user-defined fields that let you store extra information not included in the default system.
Enable Custom Data Fields
From your FastCommerce admin, go to Settings > Custom Data Fields.
Click the section that contains the field.
Toggle the Enable switch on the right side of the list.
Edit Custom Data Fields
From your FastCommerce admin, go to Settings > Custom Data Fields.
Click the section that contains the field.
Click the Custom Data Field name.
Configure the Custom Data Field, and click Save.
Applies Custom Data Fields to Products/Categories
On the Edit Custom Data Field page, scroll down to the Applies To section.
Choose whether to apply this Custom Data Field to All Products, Selected Products, or Selected Categories.
Search to select products or categories, then click Apply.
Click Save.
Display Custom Data Field in storefront
On the Edit Custom Data Field page, scroll down to the bottom.
Check the Show in storefront box.
Add new Custom Data Fields
From your FastCommerce admin, go to Settings > Custom Data Fields.
Click the section that contains the field.
Click New Field in the top-right corner.
Configure the Custom Data Field and click Save.
Custom Data Fields content type
Custom Data Fields support three content types:
Dropdown: select one option from a list
Checkbox: select multiple options
Single line text: enter your own data manually
Custom Data Fields content values
When the content type is set to Dropdown or Checkbox, you can add values to the Custom Data Field by clicking the Add Item button.
Configure Custom data fields for Products
From your FastCommerce admin, go to Products > All Products.
Click the name of the product you want to configure Custom Data Fields for.
On the Edit Product page, scroll down to the Custom Data Fields section.
Select or enter values for each field.
Click Save in the top-right corner.
Three default Custom Data Fields
Year Specifies the manufacturing year or model year of the product. Useful for items like vehicles, machinery, or electronics where the year indicates version or age.
Condition Describes the state of the item—such as New, Used, Refurbished, or For Parts. Helps buyers understand the product's quality and usability.
Location Indicates where the item is stored or ships from. This can affect shipping costs, delivery time, and local regulations.
You can add content values to the default Custom Data Fields.
