Setting up Google Analytics

You can easily integrate your FastCommerce Web store with Google Analytics. Google Analytics is a free service available from Google that provides tracking information on traffic to your site. It can be a key marketing tool that gives you insight into how many people are visiting your site, the average length of time on your site, keywords used to find your site, and a great deal more.

To integrate Google Analytics with your store you will need to have your domain hosted on your FastCommerce store. (You will find this feature on your back end management module under “Store Front/ Domain Set up.

To use Google Analytics, you will need to have an account with Google. You created a Google account by signing up for an email account with “Gmail”. Once you have this in hand you will be able to access Google Analytics to create an account.

Once you have integrated Google Analytics to your store, simply go to the Reports section of your back office: there you will find a link to the left that takes your directly to your Google Analytics account.

Go to Google Analytics

http://www.google.com/analytics/ Click on “Access Analytics” Click on “Analytics Settings” to the upper left. Look for the link to “Create New Website profile”

Make sure to create a profile for a new domain. Then select the domain you wish to use, plus the time zone and the name of the profile.

Then hit “Continue” This will bring up the following page.

You simply need one piece of information from this page. You do not need the “New Tracking Code”. The HTML code posted on this page is not needed. Look instead for the “Web Property ID”.

The Web property ID above is UA-6525447-11.

Now sign into your FastCommerce back end management module and go to “Set up” and scroll down to the Google Analytics section. Simply type in your email and password login for your “Gmail” account, and then copy/paste the Web Property ID into the appropriate field. Then Click “Save”.

You are now integrated with Google Analytics. It may take a short while for it to be activated. Simply login to Google Analytics to determine if your account is now active. It will let you know if you have successfully integrated Google Analytics with your FastCommerce store.

Then proceed to your Google Analytics Dashboard. You now have a powerful tool to help you understand your traffic and improve your market reach.
